Abstract Proposals

The conference is currently accepting proposals for paper presentations, symposia, panel discussions, workshops, and poster sessions. The extended deadline for proposal submission is October 26, 2009. Submitters will be notified of peer-review commitee decisions by November 20, 2009.

Submission Guidelines

A 350-word abstract for peer-review committees and a 120-word abstract for program text should be submitted, which relate to any aspect of the identified presentation topics (below). No self-identifying elements (e.g., participant’s name, name of institution) sould be included in the 350-word abstract. Any submitted with such information will be declined for peer review.

All program participants must pay full conference registration.

All proposals (and accompanying abstracts) must be submitted electronically.

Submission Process

Abstracts must be submitted by completing the CDA Conference 2010 Program Proposal Form.

Presentation Topics

Thinking Critically

Abstract submissions are welcomed addressing the topic of career development. Presentation topics are open but not limited to:

Acting Critically

Abstract submissions are welcomed addressing the topic of career development. Presentation topics are open but not limited to:

  • Strengths-based organizations—producing critical thinkers
  • Health disparities race/ethnicity
  • Effective communication structures and strategies
  • Diversity in the business discipline
  • Minority faculty and student retention
  • Diversity and student life
  • Reconceptualizing diversity and globalization—international and intercultural
  • Globalization
  • Use of literature to embrace diverse perspectives
  • Gender issues
  • Advancement into the upper level of the academy

Critically Examining Power

Abstract submissions are welcomed addressing the topic of career development. Presentation topics are open but not limited to:

  • Advancement into the upper level of the academy
  • The use of power indifferent cultural contexts
  • Making explicit hidden curricula
  • Hegemonic practices within the church and the academy
  • Pedagogy of the oppressed and how it leads to critical thinking

Critical Thinking in Faith and Religion
