Transcript Policy

Applicants are required to submit official transcripts for all degrees, certificates, and credentials earned. Official transcripts for other college coursework not leading to a degree, certificate, or credential may be required by the department for consideration.

An official transcript is one which Azusa Pacific University receives unopened in an envelope sealed by the former institution and which bears the official seal of the college or university. APU reserves the right to require transcripts sent directly from the former institution. The baccalaureate degree transcript is required even if an applicant has already earned a master's degree.

APU alumni need not request official transcripts for baccalaureate coursework from the Office of the Undergraduate Registrar. When applying for a graduate program, the International Center will obtain a copy for the admission file.

International transcripts must include an official transcript in the language of instruction plus a version that has been translated into English and certified by an authorized official, and include the posted degree.

Credential program applicants must obtain a transcript evaluation from a California Commission on Teacher Credentialing approved Foreign Transcript Evaluation Service.

Once filed, transcripts are subject to the provisions of applicable federal and state laws and regulations, and cannot be returned to the applicant or forwarded to other educational institutions.

Current Students: For information about ordering a transcript of your APU graduate coursework, please visit www.apu.edu/graduatecenter/registrar/transcripts/.

Minimum GPA

3.0 on a 4.0 U.S. scale (Certain exceptions apply. Please see individual application requirements for details.)

TOEFL Requirements

A successful TOEFL score report is required for entrance into university graduate programs. For current paper-based TOEFL (PBT), computer-based TOEFL (CBT), and Internet-based TOEFL (iBT) score requirements, please see our English Proficiency Requirements for Graduate Programs.

An official TOEFL score report must be sent by the Educational Testing Service (ETS) directly to APU (school code is 4596) unless the medium of instruction during the university/college immediately preceding application was English for at least two full years without ESL classes.

Additional Test Requirements

Other test score reports (GMAT, GRE, or CBEST) may be required for certain programs. For more information, contact the International Center.

Transfer Guidelines

Any graduate-level courses taken at a government-recognized institution other than APU may be considered for transfer of up to six units. Each department/school determines how units transfer into its programs. The applicant must provide course descriptions for evaluation.

When pursuing a master’s degree at APU which differs from an earned bachelor’s degree, there may be some prerequisites required before a student may take graduate-level courses. Those courses can be taken at APU as long as the student is admitted into the program.

For complete information on application requirements, refer to the International Graduate Application.*
