Entry-level Master’s Programs

These graduate programs are designed for students who hold a baccalaureate or higher degree in other disciplines and wish to enter the nursing profession. Students are admitted into the graduate program in the School of Nursing and complete all pre-licensure courses in an accelerated format. Upon successful completion of the pre-licensure courses and the NCLEX-RN exam, students continue on to graduate courses and preparation in advance practice leading to a Master of Science in Nursing and clinical specialty.

Early Entry into Nursing and Advanced Practice (EENAP) Program

APU's EENAP Program allows students to complete pre-licensure theory and clinical coursework leading to a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and then continue on with courses that lead to advanced practice in nursing, specifically the Master of Science in Nursing degree.

Second Careers in Nursing Program (S.C.A.N.)

APU's S.C.A.N. Program provides students an intensive three-year sequence of pre- and post-licensure study that enables them to become registered nurses (RNs) and also leads to the Master of Science in Nursing degree with a clinical specialty.

What both programs offer:

  • EENAP and S.C.A.N. programs meet Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) requirements for licensure.
  • Graduates are eligible for the California RN License and Public Health Nursing Certificate, and certification as Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) and/or a Nurse Practitioner (NP) in California.
  • Clinical experiences include care services for diverse cultural/ethnic groups, the poor, the underserved, and the homeless.
  • Students receive personalized attention in a supportive Christian environment from faculty who are experienced as clinical nurse specialists or nurse practitioners in a variety of settings.
  • Financial aid is available through scholarships and loans.
